Here’s a quick look at some of the up-and-coming neighbourhoods in the Toronto area.

The Queensway

Diversity, affordability and easy access to Downtown Toronto make The Queensway a destination worth looking into. There is a healthy mix of long-time homeowners and newcomers to the area.

The Queensway was once a little-known area within Toronto. However, that changed when many filmmakers came to shoot movies, television shows and commercials along the residential streets. Now, many of the homes you see could have been featured on the big screen!

The Queensway is quickly becoming a retail lover’s paradise. The Kipling Queensway Mall is minutes away by car or transit, and you’ll find everything from big box stores to smaller boutique shops.

Housing prices are soaring all over Toronto, and The Queensway has also been affected. However, the good news is that you can still find condos for as little as $499,000, making it one of the most affordable neighbourhoods in the city.

Princess Anne Manor and Princess Gardens

East of Kipling, the area is called Princess Anne Manor. To the West, it’s known as Princess Gardens. However, it is all the same neighbourhood, named after royals Princess Anne and Princess Margaret.

It is a beautiful, quiet area and one most family-oriented places in the West End.

Princess Anne Manor attracts many outdoor enthusiasts and sports lovers with its extensive recreational facilities. You’ll find everything you need to keep you active, including tennis courts, sports fields, a curling rink and baseball diamonds.

Many homes were built between 1955 and 1965 and have been beautifully maintained. Oversized lots and mature trees make these homes very popular with families with children. Princess Anne Manor and Princess Gardens feature detached bungalows, 1 ½ storey houses, split-levels and even some Georgian Revival family homes.

Humber Valley Village

Humber Valley Village lies east of the Humber River and is one of the most exclusive and high-end neighbourhoods in the West End.

It is defined by its lush scenery and green spaces that give it a country feel right in the city. The neighbourhood is surrounded by golf courses in every direction. Some of its beautiful parks include:

  • Martin Goodman Trail, a 56 km trail along the waterfront for walking, running, biking or inline skating.
  • Lambton Woods Park, a forested hiking trail that is beautiful during every season, especially in the Fall as the leaves change colour.
  • James Gardens, a botanical garden featuring numerous flower beds, a rock garden and several ponds.

Homes in Humber Valley Village often come at a premium, and range from older Georgian, Colonial, and Tudor styles to modern custom builds.

The luxury market is different, and it is sometimes more challenging whether you’re buying, selling or redecorating. But there is good news! These articles will help:

Bloor West Village

Bloor West Village consists of 8 blocks along Bloor Street West between South Kingsway and Glendonwynne Road. Interesting fact: The area was once voted the number one neighbourhood by Toronto Life Magazine. Why? There are so many reasons.

You get the thrill and excitement of living in the big city but with a small community feel.

You’ll find over 400 stores, boutiques, cafes and restaurants as you stroll through the neighbourhood. Every day brings a new adventure, and there are many exciting events to look forward to throughout the year.

  • Every July, there is a children’s festival featuring entertainment like bouncy castles, jugglers, and other activities.
  • And don’t forget about the Bloor West Street Fest, an outdoor marketplace that turns into an Artisan Night Market as the sun sets.
  • The Toronto Ukrainian Festival attracts thousands of visitors each year to enjoy the food, music and art of the culture.

Bloor West Village provides the epitome of Toronto living. It is extremely walkable, bikeable and has excellent access to transit.

The real estate market is varied and includes a mix of old and new detached and semi-detached homes, townhouses and condos.

Davisville

If you crave excitement and want to shop until you drop, Davisville might be the neighbourhood for you. The many recreational activities make it a popular spot with singles and young couples alike. The nightlife is hopping, and the streets are lined with bars, restaurants, movie theatres and other venues.

Davisville is well known for its food scene and has some of the best dining options in all of Toronto. A quick walk will bring you to many cafes, bakeries, gourmet food shops and pubs.

However, the neighbourhood’s real claim to fame is the superb shopping available. You’re minutes away from Mount Pleasant Village, with over 200 shops where you’ll find anything you can imagine, including antiques, collectibles, decor, clothing, gift stores and more.

Davisville is highly walkable and has excellent access to public transit.

There are many housing options to choose from. Davisville is comprised mostly of smaller detached homes, but you’ll also find condos, semi-detached houses, bungalows, historical homes and custom new builds.
